Description SUMMARY :
The Data Engineering Intern is responsible for working alongside the Data and Analytics team to design, build, and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure that support the Manufacturing Health Dashboard project. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in data integration, transformation, modeling, and database design while contributing to a critical operational analytics initiative.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Ability to work in our Omaha, NE office
- Design and implement Gold layer data models for manufacturing operations data (raw materials, orders, production capacity, work in progress, finished goods).
- Develop transformation logic and data pipelines using SQL and PySpark.
- Build foundational calculations and metrics for inventory health, order status, capacity utilization, and production performance.
- Perform data profiling to identify and resolve data quality issues and anomalies.
- Collaborate with business users and the Analytics Application Developer Intern to understand data requirements for persona-based dashboards.
- Document data models, transformation logic, and data lineage.
- Assist in optimizing query performance and data refresh processes.
- Participate in requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, and validation activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role does not have personnel supervisory responsibilities; however, this role includes working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATIONS: - Currently pursuing or having completed Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Experience with SQL and data transformation techniques required.
- Experience with Python or PySpark preferred.
- Experience with Databricks or similar cloud data platforms preferred.
- Familiarity with data modeling concepts and dimensional modeling preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the office work environment is typically quiet; when visiting the production floor the noise level may be loud.
