Become a valuable part of the Huntsville Hospital Urgent Care team as a Medical Assistant!

JOB SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant is essential in delivering clinical care to patients in various settings, including urgent care, occupational health, and workers' compensation. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for conducting initial evaluations, assisting with x-ray tests, and preparing patients for provider assessments by accurately recording histories, vital signs, and documentation while assessing acuity levels for appropriate interventions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties outline the expectations for this position, although they may not be exhaustive. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

• Warmly greet patients and communicate clearly about next steps and expected wait times.
• Effectively address patient concerns and seek assistance during emergent or hazardous situations.
• Ensure timely follow-up for lab and x-ray results, making urgent follow-up calls when necessary.
• Assist front desk staff with check-in and check-out procedures as required.
• Record vital signs, medical histories, medications, allergies, and other relevant details accurately.
• Support patient transfers, procedures, and laboratory work under the supervision of providers.
• Prepare and conduct X-Rays while ensuring correct positioning, safety, and radiation protection protocols.
• Complete all visit documentation and maintain clean, well-stocked exam rooms.
• Adhere to infection control, safety standards, and uphold patient confidentiality.
• Perform phlebotomy, injections, and other clinical procedures as trained and directed.

WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time employees typically work a rotating schedule of 36-40 hours per week, with 12-hour shifts on weekdays and every other weekend. PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent
BLS Certification
Preferred certification as a Medical Assistant
Experience performing X-Rays is highly desirable.
