Professional Geologist Manager – Safe Drinking Water This professional geologic managerial position provides technical hydrogeologic oversight through the implementation of Safe Drinking Water regulatory requirements for Public Water System construction, modification, and operations. The Professional Geologist Manager is responsible for supervising Licensed Professional Geologists, Geoscientists, and Geoscientist Trainees within the Safe Drinking Water Technical Services Section, planning, developing, and coordinating permitting and authorization activities that support the protection of public health and the integrity of drinking water sources. Key Responsibilities Providing technical hydrogeologic oversight for PWS construction, modification, and operational activities Supervising Licensed Professional Geologists, Geoscientists, and Geoscientist Trainees within the Technical Services Section Planning, developing, and coordinating permitting and authorization functions Conducting well-source siting evaluations Performing geographic site assessments and geologic setting determinations Completing hydrogeologic reviews for proposed or existing water sources Implementing Surface Water Identification Protocol sampling and source determinations Supporting Source Water Assessment and Protection initiatives Determining well-source safe‑yield for multiple types of Public Water Systems Qualifications Minimum of two years as a Licensed Professional Geologist or two years of professional geology experience with an active license and a bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, earth sciences, or a closely related field Active Pennsylvania license as a professional geologist issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists Active Pennsylvania non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent Ability to perform essential job functions Special Requirements PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title Work Schedule and Additional Information Full‑time employment (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch) Telework up to three days per week subject to availability of a securely configured high‑speed internet connection and a valid Pennsylvania address; full‑time telework is not available Salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases Equal Employment Opportunity The Commonwealth is an equal employment opportunity employer and is committed to a diverse workforce.
