General Statement of Duties
Performs professional nursing and other related duties for the James River Juvenile Detention Center; does related work as required.
Closing Date: This position closes on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.
Essential Duties
Extensive knowledge of general nursing and nursing methods; extensive knowledge of first aid and physical hygiene; ability to teach nursing/first-aid skills to staff; ability to communicate well orally and in writing; ability to act independently and make decisions in critical situations when professional medical guidance isn't readily available.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; OR , any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Additional Information
Possession of a certificate as a registered professional nurse as issued by the State of Virginia.
Depending on experience, this position can be underfilled as Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN):
Education: Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse OR: Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
