CDM Smith is expanding in North Carolina and seeks an experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Project Manager to join our Charlotte office. This role requires excellent client interaction skills and the ability to lead planning and design teams on multi‑discipline projects in water distribution, wastewater collection, pumping systems, treatment, and residuals/biosolids. Responsibilities Manage water/wastewater design, permitting, and construction services from concept through construction. Lead project teams and mentor junior staff, coordinating and reviewing assignments. Collaborate with technical specialists, delivery managers, and sales staff. Prepare design drawings, specifications, and technical documents for large, complex projects. Monitor and manage project budgets and schedules while managing firm risk. Provide high‑level planning and program analysis, preparing technical reports. Stay current on industry technologies, research opportunities, and professional society participation. Assist in business development through strategic planning, marketing, and proposal creation. Review draft proposals for adherence to regulatory and best‑practice standards. Interface with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to upper management. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent directly related experience). 10+ years of related experience. PMP (PMI), CCM, or DBIA certification required (must be on the Approved Project Manager list within 12 months of hire). Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or chemical engineering. Professional Engineering (PE) license. Project management experience on water/wastewater treatment and infrastructure projects in North Carolina. Experience with alternative project delivery methods. Travel Requirements 10% travel may be required. Background Check and Drug Testing Background checks and, where applicable, drug testing will be required as part of the hiring process.
